The Elizabeth Ministry follows the example of the Scripture story of
the Visitation: Mary visiting her cousin Elizabeth. By bringing
together women who share a similar story and life experience, outreach
and support is offered to women during special times of motherhood.
It is based on Jesus' vision of the radical goodness, beauty, and truth
of human life while affirming, supporting, encouraging, and assisting
women in response to their needs during the child-bearing years.
This is an intergenerational outreach that helps the Church:
-
Treasure the potential of fertility.
-
Celebrate the gift of each child conceived and born.
-
Fully mourn each infant or child death and miscarriage.
-
Encourage those in the adoption process.
-
Support families experiencing an infant or child crisis.
-
Offer support for grandparents raising grandchildren.
Women become mentors for one another by sharing life experiences
while serving as a representative of the parish community in offering
care, support, and resources through personal visits and follow-up
contacts.
Any woman is invited to bring her experience, wisdom, time, and
love to walk with other women in need of insight, companionship, and
time.
